Week of Oct. 19-23

 Hello wonderful 1A families.  We hope everyone had a beautiful weekend.  It was so nice to welcome back some of our scholars last week.  We would also like to say thank you for taking the time to meet with us last week to discuss your child’s progress.  We have a full week ahead of us and have some exciting learning to look forward to.

READ-A-THON:

The Read-A-Thon begins today and will conclude on October 30^th. Flyers were sent home in your child’s blue folder on Friday.  All students, both in-person and online, are strongly encouraged to participate.  This is a great event to encourage your child to read and support our school. 

 

DISTANCE LEARNERS:

We e-mailed a letter with the live interaction schedule and zoom links last week. As stated in that letter we will follow that schedule as close as possible.  In the event that a teacher is absent and we are unable to meet we will e-mail you ahead of time.

FROG AND TOAD BOOKS:
If you have not already, please send all three Frog and Toad books to school tomorrow.  We have started reading Frog and Toad are Friends and will be continuing to read the Frog and Toad books throughout second quarter.

 

ACADEMICS:

 

Math – We will focus on counting to 20, comparing numbers within 20 and making 10.  Our weekly quiz will be Friday, October 23.

 

Spalding – Scholars will learn 24 new words.  Phonogram Quiz is Thursday, October 22^nd.  Spelling Test is Friday, October 23^rd.

 

Science – Scholars will learn about matter and the different states of matter. 

 

ELA – Continue reading Frog and Toad are Friends.  McCall Harby quiz on Wednesday, October 21^st. 

 

Grammar – Identify names of places as proper nouns.

 

We will begin reading tests on all our scholars this week.
