Quarter 3 Feb.11th-15th

GREAT HEARTS DAY:
As many of you know, Great Hearts Academies do not celebrate Valentine's Day.  This year we will be celebrating Great Hearts Day.  The information below was taken from the Athenian Chronicles:

Wilber asked, "Why did you do all this for me?' he asked. 'I don't deserve it. I've never done anything for you.'

'You have been my friend,' replied Charlotte. 'That in itself is a tremendous thing. I wove my webs for you because I liked you. After all, what's a life, anyway? By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift up my life a trifle. Heaven knows anyone's life can stand a little of that."

On Thursday, February 14, we will enjoy Great Hearts Day: A Celebration of the Gift of Friendship.  On this day, each student and teacher will receive a large heart with their name written at the center, which will be passed around the classroom for their friends to write notes of encouragement and friendship.  Scholars will enjoy a special treat together after lunch, share in beautiful stories of friendship during the day, and remember the value of friendship in their interactions with one another.

Students are kindly asked not to bring store-bought valentines, candy, or gifts to school on this day.

ACADEMICS:
Spalding - Students will learn 8 new words on Monday, 8 on Tuesday, 8 on Wednesday, review on Thursday, and have the 24 word test on Friday.
