Project night was such a lovely time. Our scholars were able to showcase all their hardwork and LOVED dressing up to represent their historical characters. I also, very much enjoyed seeing our families interact with our scholars and ask them questions. Our first graders did a wonderful job across the board.
This week we return to a normal schedule minus a day thanks to our three day weekend honoring the late Martin Luther King Jr. We are back in full swing with reading groups, differentiated lyceum groups, and have plans full of wonderful things in Spalding, history, literature, writing and grammar.
We are moving into one of my favorite times of the year. Third quarter is where we get to start our study of American History. Starting with the first English Settlements, the success of Jamestown due to the leadership of John Smith, to the Puritans and the Pilgrims and their search for religous freedoms outside of the church of England.
We will also now look at a new part of speech: verbs. It is exciting to be learning the depths of the English language with wonderous first grade minds.
The curriculum is building and with each passing week we are learning more and more. Thank you for being part of that journey with us.
Here is a look at the week ahead:
