November 27th-December 1st

Greetings,

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! The second quarter is flying by. In just a few short weeks we will be finished with second quarter which means we will half way through the year. I have been blessed to watch each one of my scholars grow. They have learned so much in these last few months. It is exciting to imagine where they will be by the end of the year. Your support and commitment is a true conduit of their success. Thank you for all that you do. I know I am probably a bit biased, and I am sure you are too, but we have really got some amazing first graders.

I hope you have a great week!

MATH:
We are finishing up our geometry unit this week.  We will reviewed today and the test is on Wednesday. Thursday we will begin our unit on measurement.  Measurement is a very small unit.  I will be sending home a "Friendly Notes" information sheet in the red homework folders on Thursday.  Please keep these notes at home to use as a reference when helping your child with homework. The measurement chapter test will be during the first half of the week next week.

I have had some parents ask me if it was okay  to continue practicing basic math facts with flash cards.  Absolutely!  Practice addition and subtraction facts through 10.  When your child is fluent with the facts through 10 you can add the facts through 12 and so on all the way up to 20.
