May 10-15

Over the last few years of teaching first graders I have found that they are really good at learning poems, they love to sing songs, and they like to dance.  When you are six and seven years old it is easy to find the world a place joy.  In one of my most valued teaching resources they call the J-Factor (Joy Factor) one essential piece of building a strong classroom culture in your classroom.  I hope that your scholars come home and tell you about the J-Factor in 1A.  I hope that they have shared with you "Go Bananas," "Purple Stew," "Double Dream Hands," and "A-Tooty-Ta." Perhaps some have shared their duets with Mrs. Moreno and her ukulele.  We definitely purpose to have joy balanced with a lot of hard work. We love to sing and dance in 1A and you know what, it is these special times, that I hope they take with them into their summer and into their second grade year. I have been getting lots of hugs these days and feeling a little sentimental about my first graders.
