August 24th-28th

The last few weeks have been exciting as we continue to build a community and culture of learning.  We know this past week was met with a few technology challenges, but with your partnership and patience we were able to still meet as a class.  We ended the week on a high note with our group lunches.  We were grateful to spend some quality time with our scholars and get to know them better.

Please reference The Echo for important information.

XtraMath and RAZKids emails went out last week.

Everyone should have completed the Placement Quiz by August 21st.  If you have not completed the Placement Quiz, please do so as soon as possible.  We ask that your scholar log in to XtraMath 3 times a week.  XtraMath is a great way to increase math automaticity.

We ask that your scholar log in to RAZKids on a daily basis.  An assignment with a link to RAZKids has been created in Google Classroom.  We will assign new books each Monday.  If your child reads all their assigned books, they may read other books under the Reading Room tab in RAZKids.  Please make note of how your child is doing.  If it is apparent there is a significant struggle or if there is need for more challenging titles, please feel free to email us.

Grading and Returned Assignment and Forms

We will be returning student work, attendance forms, Google forms, and such.  Once you see that they have been returned know that we have documented attendance, participation, and if the assignment was not just a practice/participation assignment then we have graded it.  Some work will have feedback yet not all work will have feedback.  To view the work that has been returned to you, go into your student Google Classroom account, click the icon on the top left that says, “view your work.”

This will show you the returned work that has been recorded and checked, graded, and/or given feedback.

Math

We will continue to find and learn number bonds for 10.  We will also work on number stories for addition.  There will be a Math Quiz on Friday, August 28th on what has been covered so far.

Spalding

Scholars will learn five new words each day with a review on Friday.  There will be a Phonogram Quiz on Wednesday, August 26th.

Special Note on Pink Notebooks –  We have been using our pink notebooks for handwriting only, next week we will begin using our pink notebooks next week for spelling words only.

Geography

Scholars will learn about our state and city.  Geography Test on Thursday, August 27th.

I’m Glad  by Anonymous
I’m glad the sky is painted blue,
And the earth is painted green,
With such a lot of nice fresh air,
All sandwiched in between.
